For Neptunian Sky, work / life balance is important to our small company, so when we are not working on improving our BILGE-B-DRY product line or out on the water, we spend a lot of time on our OneWheels. Similar to snowboarding or skateboarding, our electric-powered OneWheels allow us the freedom to explore new places while providing lower body exercise and mental therapy. We have over 600 miles on our Wheels so far in under a year, but we wondered - who has the most mileage and what is their backstory?
We recently learned about Javier Starks, who has over 37,000 miles ridden on a single Onewheel. He is Onewheel’s all-time top rider. That distance is more than 1.5 times the circumference of the Earth, or enough to cross the U.S. coast-to-coast eight times. Starks rides 40+ miles daily, often commuting and exploring urban and natural landscapes. That is a lot of time dedicated to one sport, so with that dedication certainly comes a specific mentality. We furthered learned that Starks is a Washington, D.C.–based hip-hop artist, educator, and OneWheel advocate known for his curse-free music and community engagement. He has carved a niche in the music industry by producing 100% curse-free hip-hop, aiming to prove that success and authenticity don’t require negativity.
He’s worked with artists like Substantial, Matthew Shell, Uyama Hiroto, and Shing02, contributing to tracks that blend jazz, soul, and conscious rap, and has performed at venues like the Kennedy Center, where his shows often explore themes of social justice, positivity, and personal growth. He also teaches Onewheel demos in D.C. and uses his platform to promote sustainable transportation and youth empowerment.
Javier Starks is a reminder to us to find your passion and work each day to enjoy the activities you love and to love the work that you do! Find those who inspire you! www.neptuniansky.com
